Larry LaBorde, a precious metals dealer and owner of Silver Trading Company, is proud to commemorate four popular southern heroes who were valiant, well-respected, Confederate officers or politicians serving during the American Civil War. Because of Larry's great love of history, he designed and commissioned the minting of these magnificent, uncirculated silver proof struck coins, which are about the size of a U.S. silver dollar. Each proof coin is one troy ounce of .999 fine (99.9% pure) silver. Both sides of each proof coin are in high relief, and both are stunning in fine detail.

Design:

The obverse of the four Southern Hero Proof Coins proudly features a bust of one of three Confederate Generals of the Civil War: Robert E. Lee, Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson, and Nathan Bedford Forrest, and the only Confederate President Jefferson Davis. The busts were designed from famous pictures of these great men.

The reverse features the Great Seal of the Confederacy. The design represents an equestrian portrait of George Washington, surrounded with a wreath, composed of the principal agricultural products of the Confederacy, and having around its margin the words: 'Confederate States of America, 22d February, 1862,' with the motto, 'Deo vindice,' which means "God Will Vindicate!"

Only 200 proof coins of each general and CSA president were struck with the original dies, so when the 200 proof coins for each general are sold, they are gone!
